Our everyday problems won't be solved by moving to Mars, but how to survive on the Red Planet is definitely a problem worth solving. As John F. Kennedy once said, we do these things "not because they are easy, but because they are hard."

The reason to exist for us entrepreneurs and scientists is to find good problems worth solving. The reality, however, is that we've already solved a plethora of problems here on Earth the solutions just aren’t evenly distributed. In other words, most of our issues are political rather than practical. At the same time, our survival and procreation have already been aided by medical breakthroughs and mass production of goods and services to the point that it's arguably detrimental to us as a species.

What should then be the next worthy goal for the humankind? Perhaps taking better care of our environment could be one, but nowadays even that seems to be more of a political problem than a technological one. That said, what should the next generation of entrepreneurs solve that's both sustainable and meaningful to us as a species? Curiously, with Mars, we can get two birds with one stone.
